Alice Yelverton
Alice Elizabeth Yelverton, 93, of Yankton, S.D., died Sept. 19, 2018, at Sanford Care Center in Vermillion, S.D.
Born Alice Elizabeth Atchison in New Concord, Ohio, she graduated with an education degree from Muskingum College and later became secretary for the president of the University of Texas in Austin, and later for the Department of Geology and Economic Resources at the University of Arizona in Tucson.
While she lived in many locations throughout her life, her longest domicile was in Kamuela after she and her husband, Forest, relocated there from Arizona in 2004.
Survived by sons Charles (Barbara) Yelverton in Vermillion, S.D., and Forrest (Eileen) Yelverton in Lyons, Colo.; and one grandchild.
Memorial donations can be made to Hawaii Island Humane Society/Waimea Shelter in Kamuela or Heartland Humane Society in Yankton, S.D.
Private services will be held at a later date.

Curtis Yamada
Curtis Allen Yamada, 59, of Hilo, died Aug. 27, 2018, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. He was the president of Yamada and Sons, Inc., a family owned and operated construction company, and a veteran of the U.S. armed forces.
Friends may call at 10 a.m. Oct. 6, 2018, at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for an 11 a.m. celebration of life. Flowers are welcome.
He is survived by son, Kaipo Yamada of Hawaiian Beaches; daughter, Kahealani (Josh) Keliihoomalu of Hawaiian Paradise Park; sister, Donna Miller of Hilo; brothers, Kelly Yamada of Mountain View, Robert (Trudy) Yamada of Panaewa; seven grandchildren, an uncle, an aunt, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
